A significant amount of the aircrew’s remains where not recovered from the crash site, what was
recovered therefore was collected and interned in a collective grave at Dürnbach Commonwealth
War Cemetery. Their names, along with Pilot Officer Watt and Sergeant Cope whose bodies were
recovered from the crash site by the Germans, but the burial location lost at the end of the war are
remembered on the walls of the Runnymede Memorial in Surry. Thus these inscriptions will remain
until at such time in the future that all the crew’s remains are recovered.
