The Dunnet crew were:
Flight Lieutenant Charles Dunnet - Pilot
Sergeant R.F. Middlebrook - Flight Engineer
Sergeant R.G. Smith - Navigator
Sergeant W.A. Dutton - Air Bombardier
Sergeant M.F. Haley - Wireless Operator
Pilot Officer C.A. Edwards - Mid Upper Gunner
Sergeant R.M.W. Selby-Lowndes - Rear Gunner
Posted to 49 Squadron at RAF Fiskerton on May 24 1943 they were lost just three

th
weeks later when on June 17 1943 on the crews third operation they were shot
down by a German night fighter flown by Hauptman Manfred Meurer of
Nachtjageschwader I (NJG1) when returning from Cologne. All the crew were killed
and are buried in the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Helmond, Holland.
