LM 227 I-Item2 on February 23 1945, during the Main Force attack on the German
rd
town of Pforzheim. Having engaged the fighter at a range of 300 yards Danny fired
50 rounds of ·303 calibre rounds before having a blockage preventing further firing of
the 4 browning machine guns fitted to the Lancasters mid upper turret, Danny’s
fellow rear gunner Sergeant George firing off 20 rounds at the night fighter.
