The Distinguished Flying Cross awarded to David on 23 March 1945. The

citation reads "an act or acts of valor, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying
in active operations against the enemy".
David undertook his first of 31 Main Force operations on the afternoon of the

3 August 1944 against the V1 Rocket storage site at Trossy St. Maximin on
the banks of the River Oise, North of Paris. 372 Lancasters and 11
Mosquitoes of the Pathfinder force took part in this operation.

His final operation was on the night of 7/8 January 1945, taking part in a
Main Force area attack against the German City of Munich. 645 Lancasters
and 9 mosquitoes of the Pathfinder force took part in this operation.
David was then screened from further operations and was sent on a well
earned Leave with his crew. After returning from leave he would have been
posted to a training establishment to train novice aircrews.

Sadly David passed away on the 19 April 2012 aged 93 years.
His funeral took place at Trelawny Chapel Truro.
In his counties hour of need he answered its call to duty. He was without
doubt one of Bomber Commands lions.
