We would like to thank Joel Greig, Grandson of Flying Officer Greig, DFC for
                    granting permission to show details of his Grandfathers service with the RAF.


                        Archibald started his operational flying from RAF Elsham Wolds near
                        Scunthorpe. 576 Squadron was then based there with 103 Squadron.

                    576 Squadron was formed from 103 and 101 Squadrons at Elsham as part of
                                                                              th
                                   No.1 Groups expansion on November 25  1943.
                    His first operation was on the evening of July 12  1944 to the French town of
                                                                       th
                                  Revigny flying in Avro Lancaster LM 439 J – JIG2

                       Promoted Pilot Officer in early 1945 and awarded the DFC on February
                    20 1945, Archibald continued in the RAF post war and was promoted Flying
