display her late father’s service with 576 Squadron.
Dennis Ovenden was a 576 Squadron Navigator who flew from Fiskerton with
Flying Officer Carter's crew from December 1944, completing his tour of 30
operations by the end of hostilities.

Warrant Officer Dennis Ovenden, Born December 23 1923 in Bermondsey, South
London. After the war, he worked for the General Electric Company then owned a
sweet/toy shop and became the Foreshore Attendant at Herne Bay, Kent. He
married, had one child and two Grandchildren. He remained in contact with his pilot

Flying Officer Ian (Mick) Carter until his death on February 13 1995, fifty years to
the day they were returning from Dresden and had to make an emergency landing in
France because of engine trouble.
