The Carpenters Arms on the High Street in Fiskerton was one of the local public
houses used by both air and ground crews from the airfield. Airmen and WAAF also
frequented the public houses on the south side of the River Witham at
Washingbourgh by crossing the River Witham at five mile Lane. There was a Ferry
boat traversing the river in the 1940’s. A footbridge is now in position allowing the
public walking access to the rivers south bank and beyond.
