Earl, having been screened from further air crew duties was posted to 13 Base at
RAF Elsham Wolds near Scunthorpe. The resident squadron here was the newly
arrived 100 Squadron. This had spent the war years at RAF Waltham near Grimsby
but at the end of hostilities Bomber Command was reorganised with No. 1 Group
absorbing airfields once belonging to No.4, 5 and 6 (Canadian) Groups. One can
only assume Earl was in transit with his next destination being an aircrew holding
unit were he would have been held along with other Canadian air crew awaiting
repatriation to Canada.
