This is the general peritrack layout of RAF Ingham (or Cammeringham as it was
known later to avoid confusion with Ingham in Norfolk). The grass airfield is situated
some 1.5 miles north of RAF Scampton and was home to an operational station
(300 (Polish) Squadron ) until it was decided to base 1481 (Bomber) Gunnery Flight
here using the Miles Martinet drogue target tug operated by pilots from
148 Squadron. Earl and Woody Parsons spent four days here detached from the
crew who were at RAF Sandtoft with 1667 Heavy Conversion Unit. Both the gunners
did four fighter affiliation sorties and classroom work here to familiarize them with
Luftwaffe tactics and to learn the methods developed to defeat
these German tactics.
