Leslie Brown seen here in India in September 1946 with the shoulder epaulettes of a Squadron
Leader. In Mid 1946 the Officer Commanding RAF Vizagapatam returned to the UK and Leslie as
senior Flight Lieutenant was instructed by Group HQ at Karachi to take temporary command of the
station. He was informed he would be promoted to (temporary) acting Squadron Leader until the
new station commander arrived from the UK. As no Squadron Leader epaulettes were available at
Group HQ stores, Leslie was instructed to wear two Flight Lieutenant Epaulettes instead. Leslie
remained in charge of the Station for two weeks and with the arrival of the new Station
Commander Leslie stepped down to the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
