The two ·303 Browning machine guns from, presumably the front turret of the
Lancaster as it slammed into the ground. Considering the forces of the impact these
weapons have survived intact. The front section of the Lancaster is believed to have
splayed forwards as it impacted the ground. Fortunately for the recovery team this
shallow angle of impact whilst disintegrating the front of the Lancaster preserved
most items of the air frame.
