After the war and to the dismay of Bob, Mary managed to fail her driving test some
ten times! Bob, being Chief Flying Instructor at Staughton happened to be teaching
the Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary to whom he relayed Mary’s
plight. Shortly after, Mary was being taught by a Police Sergeant (an Advanced Chief
Instructor) who recommended Mary take her test in a Landrover, which she duly did
and passed. Mary continued to drive the Landrover until Bob died when she bought
a bright yellow TR6 sports car! ….. To which, we will let Bob have the final words
which we guess would be; “That’s my Girl”.
