Sergeant Victor James Morris R.A.A.F DFM, DFC flew a full tour of operations as the crew’s
air bombardier. Sergeant Morris started his tour of operations in June 1942 and finishing in March
1943. Victor was then posted to 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit at RAF Topcliffe, North Yorkshire as

an instructor. On the 8 June 1943 Victor reported sick at 1700 hours having had a headache for
8 hours which was progressively getting more severe. He was admitted to hospital and died at
2330 hours. A post mortem revealed an extradural haemorrhage caused by a fractured skull. The
cause of the fractured skull is unknown. Victor is interned at the Commonwealth War Graves
Cemetery at Dishforth, North Yorkshire.
