Sergeant William Frost
Presumed Dead
Mr L. Frost received a communication from the Minister of Air on Friday last stating
that his son, Sergeant William Gordon Frost, has now been presumed to have lost
st
his life on 21 February 1945.
Sergeant Frost was a navigator on a Lancaster bomber which failed to return from a
raid over Dortmund, Germany. He was 23 years of age, and was born at Albury, and
was an only child. He resided here most of his life.
He was employed by Mr J.A. Lorimer for 2½ years, when he joined the staff of the
Rural Bank at Narrandera. He was later transferred to the Albury branch from where
he went into camp in Victoria.

In the army he was a Bombardier in the 105 Anti-tank Regiment for 12 months. He
joined the Air Force on 10 October 1942 and went to Somers. He did most of his

training in Tasmania and South Australia, and received his wings at Nhill, Victoria.

He sailed for England on 29 December 1943.
Nothing has been heard from any member of the crew of the plane. It was their last
flight to finish the course and the 15 flight with the Lancaster bombers.

Sergeant Frost is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs Lindsay Frost, who reside in
Narrandera.
