Some forms show A. V. Roe as the first entry on the top row. This is because the aircraft was
manufactured by Metropolitan Vickers and taken by road through Manchester to Avro at Woodford
where it was assembled and test flown. This first line date is the date on which the Lancaster
arrived, in kit form, at Woodford from Metro Vickers.
