A well-known publicity picture showing 103 Squadron aircrew sat on a 4,000lb high
capacity bomb known as a ‘Cookie’ and two 1,000lb general purpose bombs
beneath ED 888. The Lancaster having completed 139 operations with the DFC
being drawn onto the side of the Lancaster by Group Captain Walter Sheen, Station
Commander, RAF Elsham Wolds.
