Flying Officer C. D. (Don) Thieme and crew flew in A - Able2 to Douai, France on the 11 August
1944 to bomb the town’s railway yards in support of the advancing Allied ground forces.
Don was shot down twice whilst undertaking operations with the Squadron. He evaded both times,
returned to the Squadron and saw out the final war operations. Don sadly passed away in 2006.
