           Some forms show A.V. Roe as the first entry on the top row.  This is because the aircraft was
        manufactured by Metropolitan Vickers and taken by road through Manchester to Avro at Woodford
           where it was assembled and test flown.  This first line date is the date on which the Lancaster
                                 arrived, in kit form, at Woodford from Metro Vickers.

        Home Census March 1946.  This was the count of all RAF aircraft held in March 1946 to clear up
        all the paperwork anomalies that had occurred earlier during the War.

        SOC     Struck off Charge (this is NOT the date the aircraft was scrapped, it’s just the date when
        the RAF ceased to treat it as an aircraft i.e. when it became a lump of aluminium.  It was scrapped
        or sold as scrap as much as two years later.)

        SOC E2    Struck off Charge Category E2 (As scrap)

        CRO     Civilian Repair Organisation.

         (The body that controlled all Cat AC & Cat B repairs).

        43 Grp    43 Group, Maintenance Command. 41 Grp or 41G (41 Group Maintenance Command)
