February 23 1945 Take off: 15.45pm. Return: 23.25pm.

Pforzheim -- Area bombing. Flight Lieutenant Harold Leyton-Brown DFC as pilot with
Donald as second (second dickie) pilot in ME 801 N - Nan2 (‘A’ Flight Lancaster).
Main Force consisted of 367 Lancasters and 13 Mosquitos of No 1, 6 and 8 Groups
and a Film Unit Lancaster.

This first operation with an experienced pilot (without Donald’s crew) was to prepare
the new pilot for his forthcoming tour of 30 sorties.
