staff formally identifying the possible resting place of the crew at the German civil cemetery in the
village of Retzow, in the region Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . Prior to German reunification in 1989,
CWG Commission staff could not access this cemetery. Thus the crew did not have a CWG
headstone erected on each grave. Three 50 Squadron airmen are also interned at this cemetery

after their deaths on the 16 February 1944, only one has been positively identified.
