Carl KRAFFT & söhne was founded in 1870 by Carl Krafft together with Heinrich
Depiereux. They initially ran an iron foundry with a steam boiler and the company
was called Krafft & Depiereux.

On the 4 October 1944 Bomber Command attacked this factory and the railway
station and in the following weeks the American army fought the remains of the
German army in this area reducing the town of Düren to rubble in the process.
