On November 19 2009 John had been diagnosed with a serious bone marrow disorder. This
email was sent to Martin Nichols the websites founding webmaster.
Dear Martin.
Thank you so much for your good wishes, your words mean so much to me. It was such an
honour to be in a Royal Air force squadron and to imbibe the fine British spirit which we
Australians were fortunate to inherit. That’s why we were there, despite to 60 per cent mortality
rate. That’s what beat the Germans, I want to thank you so profoundly for creating this website to
preserve what Fiskerton was all about. Without your enterprise the history of that glorious and
exiting era would have perished. You are an historian and have every reason to be proud. It has
been a great honour to have known you Martin.
Cheerio

John continued with his treatment and was responding to it.
Sadly Flying Officer John Musgrove R.A.A.F (retired) passed away in his sleep in February 2010.
Rest in peace a gallant Australian who along with many others answered the call to arms and
helped to save the Mother Country in its darkest hours.
