ʻFrom what I remember Mum said her dear little brother was a smart cheeky little boy with a good
sense of humour to match and a very good sportsman that would put his hands to everything.
Everyone loved him, that’s probably why he was such a good catch to the ladies during the war.
He loved his schooling and his golf caddying which he did during his holidays. John was a delight
to be around, he used to help Mum with the housework after his mother died in 1937.
