Tamkin are at the controls of UL G - George. With the rest of the crew closed up at their crew
stations; G-George, with a full war load is ready for take-off.

This photograph was taken on 22 March 1945.The Squadron put up 13 Lancasters, G-George
departing Fiskerton at 11.20am to attack Hildesheim arriving safely back at Fiskerton at 16.25pm.
The Bomb load for all Squadron Lancasters on this operation was 1 x 4000lb High Capacity
demolition Bomb known as a ‘Cookie’, 12 canisters of 150 x 4lb incendiaries and 2 canisters of 60
x 4lb incendiaries, a normal Main Force area bomb load.
Flight Lieutenant Collins and crew flew in her on 18 of their 30 operations. This Lancaster, a MK 1
airframe, serial number SW276, fitted with Merlin 24 engines. Made by Metropolitan-Vickers at the
firms Mosley road factory in Manchester, production of this contract; (No. 2221, seventh
production batch SW243 to SW279) commencing in November 1944 and completed after 37
airframes assembled in December 1944. Her service life lasted from January 1945 until June

1945. The Lancaster was struck of charge and scrapped 2 June 1947.
