Jim’s crew in 463 Squadron were unique in so far as it was virtually unheard of for such a high-
ranking Officers, especially a Wing Commander, to pilot a plane and have so many Officers on
board taking part in active duties over enemy territory. It is given to understand that this plane
and crew, due to their experience, were highly respected and were known as the ‘dream team’.
After the War, Jim became an Articled Clerk as a Chartered Auctioneer with a firm of Agricultural
Auctioneers in Bangor. Having qualified with this Company he went back to Aberystwyth and set
up the business of Jim Raw-Rees & Co., in 1948.

Jim became the High Sheriff of the County of Ceredigion on the 24 March 1970 and was also
President of the British legion and the RAF Club. Jim was also a County Councillor.
James Edward Raw-Rees passed away in 1987.
