The X indicates the approximate position in the bay of Danzig (now Gdansk in
                   Poland) where William dropped his sea mines on the evening of the 9/10  April

                  1944.William dropped his sea mines known as "Vegetablesʺ by the RAF at 01.38
                  am. The bomb load on the 12 Squadron Lancaster ND 679 F-Freddie that night
                consisted of 5 sea mines, one with a delayed 40 day fuse. This mine having settled
                        on the sea bed would be set to rise to its specified depth at that time.
