This picture shows Brough airfield post war. The airfield is right centre, just above
the lagoon. The picture is looking west along the Humber Estuary towards the port of
Goole, with Brough village itself extreme right centre of the picture. North
Lincolnshire is on the left bank of the Estuary, this county being home to the Main
Force operational squadrons of No. 1 Group, RAF Bomber Command. The nearest
bomber station being RAF Elsham Wolds some 9 miles south of Brough. Elsham
was the home of 103 Squadron, the parent Squadron of 576 and for the first 12
months 576 Squadron shared Elsham Wolds with 103 Squadron.
