The third pilot that could have possibly shot down John is Oberleutnant (Flying Officer) Erich Jung.

Jung was born on the 17 December 1909, passing away on the 16 April 2016 in the town of
Neuruppin, Brandenburg, Germany. Erich Jung is credited with 28 Abschüss.

This picture was taken on 28 April 1944. The previous night Jung and his crew had
th
destroyed a Lancaster during the RAF attack on Friedrichshafen, but on landing at
St Dizier their aircraft ran into a bomb crater on the runway and burst into flames.
The crew got out without injury.
