This picture shows the approximate position that (in this example) the night fighter
         (a Bf Me 110 G4) would have taken as it approached John’s Lancaster, the Lancaster would have
                                             been at 16,400 feet in height.
         Below is a detailed picture of the upward firing 20mm cannon mounted to the rear of the fighter’s
           cockpit. Known to the German aircrew as Schräge Musik or Jazz music, these cannons were
                 deadly and were used to rip open the wing roots and fuel tanks of Allied bombers.
