The Battle of Britain Lancaster overflying Fiskerton airfield in the 1970’s.At this time
                 the airfields runways and perimeter tracks were largely intact only the structures on
                                      the Technical site having been demolished.

                The Watch Office (Control Tower) is seen below the Lancaster, this was demolished
                and the site returned to the plough in the late 1970’s. The Avro B1 hangar is seen in
                 this picture, it like the T2 hangar (the T2 hangar base is seen below the Lancasters
                 port wing) being dismantled and sold for scrap after being damaged by a fire. The
                 short runway (13/31) with its runway head 31 seen here below the Lancaster was

                 the site of the disbanding parade on the 13  September 1945 when 576 Squadron
                 was disbanded and the airfield put into a care and maintenance state controlled by
                          61 Maintenance Unit, a sub unit of RAF Maintenance Command.
