This photograph taken in the market town of Louth, Lincolnshire shows aircrew in a
dingy.
The crew dingy was located in a compartment on the inner starboard wing and as
the viewer can see there is not much room for a 7 man bomber crew. One can only
imagine the thoughts going through the minds of downed aircrew having managed to
climb into the dingy with hopefully the rest of the crew and awaiting rescue.
If the seas were in a storm state then the waves would have swamped the dingy.
One only can wonder how many aircrew perished in this way.
