Wartime photograph of RAF Fiskerton. This photograph was taken in early 1944
before 576 Squadron occupied the airfield. 49 Squadron, a No.5 Group Main force
Squadron was resident at the airfield up to October 1944 when Bomber Command
reorganised the Group airfields and 1 Group took over RAF Scampton, Dunholme
Lodge, Cammerington and Fiskerton. 5 Group acquired the former U.S.S.A.F
airfields in Southern Lincolnshire. The American Airborne forces resident there
moving to continental airfields. 49 Squadron moved to RAF Fulbeck near Sleaford.
