Lancaster LM227 I-Item was a squadron centurion and the crew flew in her on

                LM 227 with a full war load preparing to take off from Fiskertons Main runway. Seen
                    here include the Station Commander, Group Captain Terence Arbuthnot (1),
                 Squadron Leader Green (Intelligence) (3), Flying Officer Green (Flying Control) (4)
                        and W.A.A.F personnel including a Lady referred to as ‘Chunkie’ (2).

                  The Lancaster’s 100  operation was to Rotterdam as part of Operation ‘Manna’ on
                            th
                       the 8  May1945. The Lancaster being flown by Flying Officer Simpson.

                       LM 227 was struck off squadron strength on the 11  October 1945 and
                                                                                       th
                 sent to a 43 Group Maintenance Unit and categorised ʹEʹ on the 16  October 1945.
                    This squadron centurion was then sent to the scrap yard to be melted down.
