The Battle of Britain Avro Lancaster PA474 overflying the former RAF Fiskerton airfield in the mid
1970’s. In this photograph you can see many of the operating surfaces and structures that have
since been removed. The eastern head of the main runway with the perimeter tracks can be seen.
The control tower (Watch Office) and the B1 (Avro) hangar are still in-situ, The base of the T2
hangar under the Lancasters port (Left) wing can be see as can the base of the flight office where
crews gathered for the briefing prior to operations (below the port wing). Finally, the short runway
head 13 can be seen at the bottom of the photograph.
