In the following photo Bill is with his colleagues Vernon Dellit (an Australian from Brisbane) and
Bernard Inachin (“Ichy”) who was from Pyatigorsk, a city in southwestern Russia.

Vernon Dellit (AUS 414452) was later to muster in the UK with the RAAF 460 Squadron. It is
notable hat Bernard Inachin had been visiting the RAF in England when the German Nazi forces
invaded Russia and he had immediately volunteered for service with the RAF.

The little we know about Bill’s time at the No. 8 B&GS site comes mainly from his airgraphs and
postcards. There is an official record of activities and events which occurred at the site which are
available in the site’s Daily Reports. It appears that Bill’s group may have been already designated
