At Mountain View site Bill undertook a course in Bombing Instruction (Aircrew) with the objective
for preparing him for a role as an instructor. His course at Mountain View was No.13 Bombing
Instruction (Aircrew) Course. It appears that it was an approximately 2-week course based on his
posting to 2B&GS Mossbank which was on the 8 March 1943. The course would have been very
                                                            th
“hands-on” using bomb aiming devices and aerial techniques that were optimised at the site.

Bill’s travel to the Mossbank Site in South Saskatchewan was again via rail and meant that he
travelled via Toronto Ontario where he was able to take a short break. Below he can be seen
standing on the plinth of the statue of the province’s former Premier Mowat in Queens Park.

From his letters & airgraphs it appears that Bill stayed for a couple of nights in Toronto where he
was able to make contact with his two brothers-in-law who were also RAAF aircrew and who were
undergoing training in the BCATP Canada: Ken James (Air Observer) and Lloyd James (Pilot).
